The Darkhold in Marvel Comics is a magical and iniquitous book consisting of spells and workings, forged out of indestructible flesh, by the creator of Black Magic and demonic Elder God, Chthon. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe however, Chthon carved his spells and experiences into the walls of the Darkhold Castle located atop Wundagore Mountain and prophesied the Scarlet Witch. So this begs to question: Who transcribed these spells and prophecies from stone carvings into the Book of Sins itself? Considering the Multiverse altering capabilities of the Darkhold seen during Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, is it possible that the timeline trashing, Multiversal tyrant Kang the Conqueror has had a vested interest in the Darkhold this whole time?
First appearing in the MCU all the way back in Phase 3, the Darkhold had previously popped up in alternate timeline exploring series’ like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Runaways before being procured by Wanda Maximoff in WandaVision. As we head into Phase 5, the second leg of the Multiverse Saga, it’s becoming more evident that Kang has more than likely been influencing events and incursions behind the scenes this entire time. Is it possible that in the MCU Kang’s powers incorporate Dark Magic in some capacity? Could Kang have interfered and altered Chthon’s prophecies by knowing about the Scarlet Witch prior? Is Kang the author of the Darkhold in the MCU?
