Now with Phase 4 of the MCU wrapping up with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it’s clear that mutants will play an important part in Marvel projects moving forward. Namor, the villain introduced in the Black Panther sequel, is the first MCU character to admit that he is a mutant. The idea of mutants has been hinted at in the season finale of Ms. Marvel, but the interesting thing about Namor is that he has been around for over 500 years. Given this fact, it’s quite possible that there are other mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that are simply hiding in plain sight!
There have been other subtle introductions of mutants such as Professor Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, even though he was not from Earth-616. Some major mutants that have yet to make an appearance but are confirmed to appear in Phase 6 are Deadpool and Wolverine! The gradual growth of mutants in the Multiverse Saga indicates that something major is coming, and Namor may be the stepping stone to explaining how mutants have already been around since Phase 1 of the Infinity Saga.
Some recent Marvel projects included small characters that didn’t necessarily make an impact on the overall story, but their comic book counterparts are indeed mutants. Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige are always one step ahead of the game by including tiny details in their projects that will become important down the road.
